Over The Past 4 Years There’s Been A Huge Increase Of “Backyard” Marketers.
Have you noticed how many phone calls and emails you get today for SEO, first page Google, websites, sms text message marketing and other online services?
Just 4 years ago you hardly got any. Today businesses are being bombarded with these calls.
Here’s what happened …
Over the past 4 years internet marketers (these are people who run “online” businesses) have been aggressively marketing courses to the many thousands of people who are trying to create an in-home business.
The courses they’re marketing is to teach these individuals how to market online products and services to offline businesses to help them with their marketing. Because of this it has caused a huge increase of “backyard” marketers hitting the market.
The problem is over 95% of these people have never done any kind of marketing for offline businesses. Their knowledge is based upon what the author of the course taught them.
As I’m sure you’re very aware of, there are very distinct differences between an online business and an offline business and how an offline business would use online products and services! MOST of the people who contact you about online strategies and tools do not understand this distinction.
For one, and a biggy, buying patterns are different between an offline business and an online business.
It’s important that anyone who works with you and your business has a clear understand of offline businesses and offline marketing.
Think about it. How can anyone help you with your businesses marketing if they don’t have an intimate knowledge of offline marketing or understand buying patterns and consumer demographics all of which are key to offline marketing?
Because of lacking the experience and knowledge of offline marketing …
less than 3% of the people out there today understand or even realize the significance of what I’m sharing with you here today.
You see, what they know they learned from a course which has caused a type of “near-sightedness”. In other words, it’s hard for them to see beyond what they learned in the courses they’ve purchased.
That’s why over the past four years with the increase of backyard marketers we’ve ended up doing a lot of trouble shooting helping businesses figure out why they’re not getting the results they were told they’d get.
We look at the whole picture which includes:
- What you’re doing,
- Have done,
- Your market place,
- Customer demographics,
- Competition, and
- A number of other things.
Plus, we understand offline marketing at a very intimate level including buying patterns.
After doing the analysis, consistently with almost 100% of these businesses we do an analysis for we’re finding their website needs an overhaul. Practically every single one of them have numerous critical mistakes with their website that’s holding them back from creating the results they could and should be receiving.
Now, this isn’t the only problem we find. It’s the consistent problem we find.
What’s ironic about the website being the most consistent problem we see is what we’ve found is most offline businesses have been turning to their website designer for marketing help. That like turning to your CPA for legal advice … it’s not his area of expertise.
Here you have a website designer putting together your most important marketing asset for your business which today is the center to all of your marketing, yet they haven’t been educated in the ways of marketing!
Instead you’re just getting an informational website because that’s what they’ve been taught to do. That’s sadly still the standard even today.
Marketing is a very specialized, in-depth topic that takes years to fully understand and master. It’s not something you can just read about and then think you’re a master marketer. There’s so much more to it than just what you read.
You have to know which items go together, and which don’t.
You have to know how to break-down your products and company from a marketing point of view.
You must know the demographics of your clients because you want your marketing pieces to talk directly to them. Not knowing this has been another reason we’ve found so many backyard marketers have failed.
Unfortunately, because these backyard marketers aren’t fully and properly educated in the ways of the offline business they are just throwing things against the wall and seeing what sticks and what doesn’t. That’s where we come in and fix these problems.
That’s also why we’re so busy. We are constantly fixing the marketing strategies these backyard marketers are putting in place without first having a clear understanding of the marketing elements of the business or the product being promoted, or of the demographics of the recipients of the marketing pieces.
Be careful when hiring someone to handle your marketing. Making sure they have an extensive background in offline marketing with boat loads of experience. And please, quit turning to your website designer for marketing help … it’s not their area of expertise.
